Las Cruces New Mexico

Landed about noon in Las Cruces. Beautiful place! I could spend winters here easy.......

So we had lunch yesterday in La Posta de Mesilla, which is old town here. It's a great mexican restaurant in a 150 year old adobe building. After seeing the building, I can understand why it's still here after a 150 years.... Las Posta is a spanish word for a "Kings Rest" that they built along the major roadways in Spain back in the day. They were places for the King to spend the night, eat and they also served as mail drops.

The one here was a stagecoach stop on the Butterfield run.
The food was slap ya momma good stuff. I had the BEST margarita that I have ever had. It had a habanero/blackberry concoction with the usual other stuff. Ummmmmmm good........

Old Town is a cool little place. We did not get to go there today because McCain and his HO' are having a rally there. The shop owners and us are NOT happy about there either. They are not makin' a dime while they are there and we are not spending a dime......

So we rode down to El Paso. I know why Marty Robbins rode out the to the bad lands of New Mexico now....... We went to El Paso Saddleblanket Company which was pretty cool. Bought some you some stuff while there. Stopped in a Mall just down the road from there. I counted the number of english speakers there while we walked through the mall. The grand total was two, me and Karen. The rest were beaners. If you are a beaner and you are reading this, get the hell out of our country unless you come back legally. You suck at driving and if you are planning on staying in OUR country, we speak english here.

But, we can say we have been to El Paso if anyone asks now. Those of you that are reading this that might like to do this in the future, put Las Cruces as a must do on your list, and scratch El Paso off..... :-)

Tomorrow we go to White Sands to sled down the gypsum slopes. Hopefully we won't get shot by any missle testing or little green dudes from the planet chuckufarly in the Andromeda strain.....

Also if you are thinking about doing this, the Hacienda RV Resort here is a great park. One of the best ones we've stayed in so far so write them down. They had free Margrita night last night. We met some nice folks from New York, upstate, not the shittycity, and some from NOLA/Dothan. Had a nice evening yakking. They also have a nice FREE contenintial breakfast. Not sure why they call frozen waffels and cereal contenintial but they do. It was nice though. Most of the folks chillin' here are fulltimers, either from the north heading south for the winter or from California trying to get to a sane destination to spend some time decompressing.

We have not taken a bunch of pictures here, but suffice it to say that it's beautiful country. Las Cruces is surrounded by some pretty decent sized mountains that offer some great views.

Anyhoo, time to go find some grub.. ya'll sleep tite now ya heah.....

More Later...
