The sub was way cool. Just as small and as tight as her American counterparts. I bonked my noggin' on the first hatch I tried to pass through. Learned real fast to duck more.....
This is the Midway. An awesome ship in her day. Just across the bay from her is a current Carrier that's undergoing some renovation before going back into service. We also saw an active duty carrier coming into port the other day. Awesome sight!
This is the Star of India. It's the only boat of it's kind still sailing from the 1800's. It should say still sailable because I don't think it leaves port much anymore, but it can still sail. A beautiful boat!
This ship made 21 trips around the world when she was still a working boat. After her last one, the Alaskan Packing Company bought her and used her to support their packing operations for many more years.
Pop, what's this?
Was a cool day bopping around the boats. The harbor is a cool place to hang out. Had a good lunch at Anthony's too.
Last night we ate at a GREAT Mexican seafood place called Karina's in El Cajon. I had another huge Camerones De Cocktail and lobster taco's. Slap ya momma good they wuz! ;-) K had a whole plateful of something else that looked good.
Yesterday we headed back north to Oceanside and then crusied back down the PCH to the crib. Oceanside was a pretty neat town on the coast. Bigger than Panama City by a bit, but much cleaner along the coast. From there we went through Carlsbad. We've gone through a bunch of towns named Carlsbad along our journey. Then Encinitas, another really cool coastal town, and Cardiff by the Sea. Then Solana Beach down to Del Mar and into La Jolla. This pretty much wraps up our ride down the Pacific Coast Highway starting way up in Cresent City. It's cool to do even though California has not been our favorite place to be. For those of you scooter riders. It would be worth hauling your bikes out here and riding the entire coast highway!
I not sad that we will be leaving California early Monday morning. I am sad that we will be leaving the coast though. We head up to Las Vegas on Monday for three or four days. Karen found us a campground that got pretty good reviews just a short way from the strip. It's called Las Vegas RV resort (pop, NOT Las Vegas International Resort, there are two). It got decent reviews for vegas.....
Later gaters....

I'm trying to catch up on your doin's--boy, you've been moving! We have Wifi here and now I can see the videos, so cool. Happy boating, my little gypsies.
Love ya...
first I'll tell the statue of the sailor and the nurse kissing is from a famous photograph made on VE day at times square in NYC.
The radio equipment looks like a Halicrafters receiver sitting on a BC610 transmitter.
Your activities sound exciting and I am enjoying them through your blogs, keep on keeping on.
I think Judy and I are going Geocaching today. There are about 4 caches around here we have not found yet.
As Judy said, it is great to be able to see all the videos on this wifi at the site.
Take care, my love to you and Karen,

Oops didn't look at large image before making guess...Hammulaud almost like Hailicrafter both were old ham equipment. Missed the other one for sure.

Hola, Ma & Pa!
Happy b'day & anniversary. (late)
Its 48 degrees here, brrrrr. Today's the last beach day for Forrest. San Diego has been the best of CA. The zoo is amazing & huge! The city is clean & not as crowded as San Francisco. I hope Vegas & Sedona are as impressive.
Wow gramps, you're good. I was just gonna do with OFR....
Oh yeah, why have I heard of La Jolla? isn't there a prison there or something?
No prison. Big surfin' beach and area though.
Good job pops. Knew would get those. I had hoped that the Russian radio equipment would still be aboard the sub, but it was not. There still trying to gather up stuff that is missing as they restore it. That had equipment was on board the Berkely, a passenger steam ship.
