Petroqlyphs and High Places today....

So we are about 5 miles from the Petroglyph National Monument. We were able to take Forrest on a hike in one of the canyons that hold some of them so we hit it this morning.

After hiking this, we took the mutt back to the portacrib and headed over the the Sandia Crest Tramway. Awesome views and trip!

Going up!

Almost to the top here. The temp was about 85 at the bottom. Top temp was 63. Felt great! Height was at 10,300 give or take a couple at the top.

Looking back down from whence we just came. Nice breeze blowing up the hill......

We had lunch in the High Finance Resturant at the top. Not bad, expensive, probably not worth what we paid, but we were there, and hungry.

Another nice day.......

I'm going to school on your trip. I looked up petroglyphs on Google...they're everywhere in the world. Pretty cool.
Love you guys, take care.

They are. We actually saw quite a bit of damage and some recent additions to these today. This is a national monument and we parked behind a jiffy lube and then walked behind/between a bunch of houses to get to the start of the trail to get to them. They are surrounded by houses. In another 2 or three years, these will be gone, or rather replaced by the current style of 'glyphs..... sad to see...

Yeah, that's what I was reading. In some places the visitors aren't allowed to bring glass or any other items that can damage the original work. There are supposed to be some really significant ones in Hawaii. That's as far as I got.
