East Yellowstone

Today we decided to head east from Mammoth Springs. Had not been out this way yet. This area of the park takes you away from the thermal areas and moves you higher up in the mountains. Great drive early in the am. There are two water falls along this way. This one we hit only about 5 miles out of mammoth. Pretty nice...

We were headed to a place called Tower Falls. We actually passed it and just after we found a place to turn around, we ran into this guy..... There were three of them but the other two were not interested in becoming a part of this blog. Losers.........

They were all three black tail bucks........

So then, we get back to the parking lot at Tower Falls...... Karen gets Forrest the Wonder dog out for a walk and a pee. While she was getting him out and hooking up his leash I ran into the master of the parking lot. He is bad to da bone.....

What you could not hear, because you were not there, is what he said to me. I quote, "Dood, you got food? Cuz if ya don't, you need to move on... Can't ya see I'm workin' here?"

I didn't have food so I moved on.........

I walked on up to Tower Falls while K was walkin' F......

Here's what I found....

Yep, I know. It's similar to some of the other falls that we saw. Ya take a gorge.... Ya take a small river..... add some gravity and you got this falling water effect. Sounds cool though......

After I break the hypnotic effect the falling water has on me and I move on back to K and F, she says to me, Forrest found a bear. He was more interested in peeing, but he did indeed find a bear....

Yep. It's a bear. Cute lil bugger. He was enjoying a breakfast of some kinda berry till us humans came along....ok Forrest ain't human, but he thinks he is......

Karen was concerned that ya'll completely understand what a black bear looks like in the woods, in case you come upon one. So here's the south end of the lil guy....

Bear ass berry pickin'.... a popular past time around these parts....

So after we finished up there we headed on up the road. Got to Mount Washburn and headed up as far as we could drive up the peak. Still lots of the white stuff up here...

This is across the valley from Washburn.....

This old guy had stomped him out a bed just below the last switchback on the way up Washburn and was enjoyin' the sun on his back. Amazing creatures arent' they....

We left him and headed back to the portacrib. It's been HOT here today. Got up to 95 which we have not seen for awhile. The wind really blows up the valley when it's this hot so the trailer's been dancin' in the wind all afternoon. It's started to die down some now and hopefully it will drop the temps a bunch when the sun sets.

Ya'll take care. Keep it between the ditches and don't hit the elks....

the parking lot master does look bad with those claws!!!...I do believe the plant behind him looks like a wild rose, maybe a prim rose. Was this animal a chip monk? looks like a monster compare to our little chip monks. Pictures are great , keep them coming albeit, takes me several minutes to down load, but worth the wait. Thanks Karen for showing me the bears ass.....
Love you both,

pop
