We notice the boat moving and find this little guy pulling the anchor rope....
Turns out he was right........ Pop started catching these pesky bait stealin' turds............
Pop also loaded the boat with a bunch of small convicts.....
Of course, I managed to screw the whole day up by adding to my fillet count....
This one was a 20" fish. The slot on these reds are they must be at least 18" and less than 28" to keep them.
The area we were fishing has a ton of oyster beds/rocks on the bottom so we were constantly getting hung up and breaking off. We were fishing with frozen shrimp and we had gotten down to our last couple shrimp and no more hooks or sinkers. Pop tied into what would have been an overslot redfish monster. Broke his line just a ways out from the boat! bummer......... I had to win...... again....... :-)

Well at least I finally proved that I was not a jinx to our fishing. My number one son told me if we did'nt find fish yesterday, he was finished fishing with me and that Karen and the wonder dog would become his steady fishing pards. I was really sweating it, cause I like to fish with him. I promised him that if he let me continue, I would continue to take his pictures with my red fish and he could still take credit for catching them...He sure did find a honey hole though.
Holdn' YOUR fish white boy? Gonna be a long WET walk back for you next trip!.....
Shoulda been there TODAY when I boated all those eatin' sized mangroves, convicts and reds..... :-)
Shit, even Karen caught a bigger red than you did!
Don't think those are mangroves. If they are, they have a different color pattern than the ones up here off shore....

Same dorsal pattern, so I guess it is, just darker.
