A Redfish! Yeah......

Fished the Waccasassa river yesterday. It's an amazingly beautiful river that is not much more than a ditch east of Highway 19. From there it opens up gradually until it spills into the gulf. I did not bring my camera....again... but Pop did. He's gonna send me some of his pics... sometime and I'll post them when he does.

We did not set the world on fire with the fish but we did boat some... Boated two trout both of them around 14" which is an inch below the slot. Pop also caught a Red finally! although it was also below the slot. This area is extremely difficult to learn to fish. You have to try to figure out the tides and where to be at a given time for a specific fish type. To make matters worse, the low tides have been DRASTICALLY lower than normal so you cannot get to some areas that hold fish unless you have a "skinny" water boat. This is a boat that can run in 8" or less of water where there MIGHT be oyster beds. Pop and I are not ashamed to admit that we don't have the cojones required to attempt this! :-) It took him a little while to convince me that I didn't have them.. We are not giving up on finding the fish though.

Hell, even if you don't catch fish, you get to get eyeball to eyeball with Eagles, Osprey's, and Gators.......

Here's a couple Suwanee gators.....

And this lil mutt..... This is Karen and I's first Gator here. He's alive and well K.....

And here's a little video of the big guy....... anyone wanna go swimmin'?......

No really, it's ok, I'll tie a rope to your ankle and pull you back in..... if I get a bite.... :-)

Or we cut GEF in half and use the other half for shark bait!
