Made it to Yellowstone! Our trip up took us through the park today. Did not get to see much of it as the drive was pretty hairy with the portacrib attached. We hit snow on the upper peaks as we came through at about 10k feet for a short time. Drive was beautiful, although sad too. We saw a large part of what burned in the last couple years. Much more on that later though.
We are staying the next week at Rocky Mountain RV park in Gardiner Montana. It's a small town in the mountains on the Yellowstone River. There big claim to fame is the river rafting and the fact that they are the northern entrance to Yellowstone. We are camped 2 miles for the entrance to the park. This is the only entrance that is open year round.
You cannot imagine the view from our rear living room window and the picture will not do it justice but here it is....

There is no way that you can get the real image that this is. The valley between our window here and the mountain in the distance is a drop of probably 2k feet down to the Yellowstone river. Rafter's and kayaker's pass by on a pretty regular basis. Ant's on the water.... Heading away from this view, you climb another 1000 ft to reach the summit of the mountains above us. Beautiful....

This is Yellowstone lake. Hugh! We drove for at least 45 minutes around it before we got to our first turn off in the park.

This is the truck and the porta crib. Best campsite we've had since we left from a view standpoint!

This is one of our neighbors. There was him, a smaller buck and a doe. Not botherd at all by Forrest but a little nervous around me and K...... Eating the grass at a church......

This is a shot of the portacrib zoomed from across the river in Gardiner. Long zoom......

This is a shot of Gardiner from the road over the mountains heading towards Jardine.

We 'et here tonite. Damn fine cuisine here in the mountains. I had Salmon sompthin' er another and Karen had beef...... Good enough to make ya slap ya momma.... Pop, I can't reach her, can you hook a brother up? :-)

Damn.... wish I could do that........ :-)
Awright then........ These pics will in no way do this are justice. So you will all have to just come out here and see for yourself. I promise you, you will NOT regret it!
I'll have some stuff from Yellowstone tomorrow. Remember, It's a
NATIONAL park... that means YOU own it. You owe it to yourself to come see it!
Love ya'll....

Now, son, that's the second time you've done that. Do you think the old lady's going to forget...huh?
But, the pics and dialog are AWESOME. Nice work!
"pop, I can't reach her, can you hook a brother up? :-)" I started to bop her one for you, but she reminded me I had to sleep sometime, so being the wise man that I am, I let it pass, you can do your own mama slapping later when your odyssey ends.
Mighty fine looking land out that way..I know you and Karen are having a ball...keep on keeping on...Love you, Pop
Very nice brother. Great pics and writing. Thank you for letting us live vicariously through you. Sure do miss you though. Be careful out there you hear.
Love you,
K
Of course, you do realize that you just let I don't know how many weeks worth of good eating just stand there while you did nothing but shoot it with a camera. Wuss, you must be getting soft or maybe that old age is kicking in. haha. Place looks beautiful, it went down a notch when your ugly butt rolled in, but still looks good. Karen, I can't believe you haven't left him on the side of the road out there somewhere yet. Ya'll have fun and take a picture of the piece of the park that I own, it would be nice to see it.
Matt
Hi guys,
Mike & Forrest are taking their afternoon naps. Matt, if I left him somewhere I'd have to drive the trailer outta here myself. If I could do that,I wouldn't have brought him in the first place! Just kidding. I did threaten to pack up my dog & go home if he wasn't nice to me!
love to all, Karen
Pop's whupped... :-)
Matt, who says we ain't eatin' it tonite. Could be that pic was the BEFORE.
