Points West.....

Took a drive west today. First town of note was Bayou La Batre. Mr. Gump was not at home and apparently all 12 Jenny's were out at sea. If you happen to be in the market though, there are some big ass shrimping boats for sale on the bayou!


Crossed over into Mississippi and toured Pascagoula. Only stopped at the red lights here.


Did pop into the Gulf Islands National Seashore outside Ocean Springs. Nice little state park that has a decent looking, although small campgrounds. Would be worth the drive if you had the desire to see the Mississippi Gulf coast.


Didn't start seeing any damage until we got to Biloxi. There is still plenty of the evidence of Katrina there. The building back is in full swing and in a couple years you won't know a storm hit, at least along the beach. The Casino's are back. Even Buffett is getting into that act. He has a monster gambling house under construction. Set to open in 2010 according to the signs. The one thing we saw on the drive that we thought was awesome are the carvings along the beach road. Artists have carved many of the hurricane damaged trees into various wildlife common to the area. Got one picture, although not a good one.

All in all a nice drive and Forrest got to poo in another state too!
