Dauphine Island

We are staying about 6 miles north of Dauphin Island. Karen and I have been to the island before, but it was many years ago. The island has changed significantly since Hurricane Ivan, I think it was that tore it up. The entire western end is nothing but rental houses. The eastern end still has Fort Gaines and Sea Lab.

What strikes me the most is how dirty the beach is. Trash everywhere. It could be a really nice beach too.

The good thing about the island and the beach is that they allow dogs. Forrest LOVES it. The new smells and the ability to get out and run really perks him up....

We had some big storms today but after they passed through we went out to the beach. Really chopped up the surf....

Big crawfish boil coming up at Cadallic Park this Saturday. Michael and Michelle are coming down and we are going over to eat the bugs..........

Later...

Awww....look at Forest..everytime I see his name I just want to yell "Run Forest Run". ;) I wish I was going to be there to eat the bugs with you guys. I hate that the beach is so trashed. That makes me sad. :( Give everyone hugs and hello's for me.

Love ya,
K

Lordy, Lordy, I do miss them bugs. We can get them here but it just ain't the same as having someone pour them out of a big pot along with the corn and potatoes. Hope they were good.
Love ya & see you soon.

CONGRAGULATIONS on the retirement.. The dog is beautiful..
Glad you and Karen can spend this time together doing what you always wanted to do. Didn't know Mikey was married and sure didn't know he was going to be a daddy. I am way outta the loop. Thank you Judy again for the link.. Will continue to follow this. I love all of you and miss you terribly.

I don't eat fish bait..often.The cajuns made the bugs so spicy that they burned the skin off your libs, not my idea of good eating. Hope you had a grand time.

The bugs were excellant! Apparently this is an annual thing on the island.
